Lands taken forcibly to build military camps – Suresh Premachandran

TNA parliamentarian Suresh Premachadran said the traditional lands of the displaced people in the North are being forcibly taken over to be build camps and villages for the thousands of military and police personnel deployed in the North.
Premachandran said that lands belonging to close to 5,000 families from Shanthipuram and Indrapuram in the Kilinochchi District, Thiru Murugandi in the Mullaitivu District and Munnikulan area in the Mannar District have been forcibly taken over in this manner. He also said that Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jaysuriya had recently informed the Mahanayakes in Kandy that military villages would be set up in the North.
The parliamentarian said that military personnel after sending displaced people back to the transit camps are in the process of settling their family members in the lands.
