165,755 Tamil civilians in the North still in IDP camps – Karuna responds to Ravi

Deputy Resettlement Minister Vinayagamurthy Muralitharan alias Karuna has said there are currently 165,755 Tamil civilians in IDP camps in the North. He made this statement in response to a question posed by UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake in parliament last week.

The deputy minister said that 544,494 IDPs have been resettled in the North and that each resettled family has been given a sum of Rs. 25,000.
