Colombo accused of 'land grab'
PC administration says it is undermined by the Central government
A minister in the eastern provincial administration has accused ministers in the central government of his own government of land grab undermining post-war reconstruction efforts.
Wimalaweera Dissanayake, land, education and cultural affairs minister in the eastern province, also accused the authorities of the Central government of transferring teachers without his knowledge.
There has been no coverage in the media on the issues, he said.
"It is the duty of the journalists to report these issues rather than reporting on arrest of Kassippu (locally brewed alcohol) brewers," he said.
Journalists who attended the media briefing said that they have only limited access in covering major developments.
The visibly frustrated minister said re-building education system after the decades of war are hampered as a result of the "improper intervention" by the central government, journalist RG Dharmadasa said.
