Dep. Manager of leading state bank found strangled

The Deputy Manager of People’s Bank, Liberty Plaza branch, Bulathsinhalage Premaratne had been strangled to death allegedly by five members of the military intelligence wing led by an army captain, police spokesman S.S. P. Ranjith Gunasekara said.
His body had been found in Labugama in the Kosgama police division yesterday. The five member gang is now in police custody. According to police, the victim had been strangled to death using shoe laces. Mr. Gunasekara said the victim had been missing since July 1.
The suspect army captain had been the room mate of Mr Premaratne in Kollupitiya.
Police said that they think the killing was a result of a personal animosity between the two men. The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) is conducting further investigations under SSP Vaas Gunawardane.
