Military has to quit all influences in all humanitarian aid works and civilian’s activities and public events- Jaffna’s civil society leaders have requested front of Human rights Council.

They have expressed their grievance, contempt, and ailments regarding military presence and interferences in all public events and humanitarian work such livelihood projects. They said, that Jaffna civilians have been requesting to cancel or halt all emergency regulations and terrorism prevention acts. Further, they stated that is impossible to talk about Human Rights and other rights related things amid military interferences and checking.

All these discussions took place in Jaffna Central College, where human rights council held a meeting with Jaffna civil society leaders on last Saturday evening to discuss on future activities, current humanitarian situation and the actions will be taken in humanitarian basis.
One of the civil Society Leader Paramananthan has insisted that Human rights council has to work independently and for that purpose, he pointed out an importance for legislations that has to authorize the independency of Human Rights Council’s activities.

To let the people to express their opinion freely, and make freedom of expression in public place first hand state of emergency has to be removed as an immediate action, feature he said.

Civil society leaders advised to set a legal panel to asses the release of political and suspicion detainees, prisoners

During that discussion Jaffna NGO consortium leader Kesavan said, to create an environment to talk about human rights first this death wreath has to be removed; we have obviously seen military influences in all state departments activities. He pointed out that, donors are reluctant to allocate grants due this military influences in Humanitarian aids works and other civilians activities.

Important issues had discussed there.

1.Criticized the bias on relief programmes of government for natural disaster victims from South and reluctance in proper resettlement for 30 years war victims form North East.

2.Military influence in all livelihood programme in Jaffna .

3.Situations of development projects, beneficiary lists.

4.Military pretends that they are closing private occupations but apparently, truth is they are constructing news checkpoint in new places.

5.Military administrating units dominating in all administration thus civil society leaders are unable to express anything openly without fear.

6.Military presence in public event and military has been compelling school administrations to invite military officials for school events.

7.All the robbery and murders are not accidental most of them are well planned. This is guester that proved still Tamils have been treated as enemies.

8.Resettlement is a process that the people from that particular area being returning, but some politicians are concocting on this.

9.Stage of law and order in Jaffna, complaining in police stations is a difficult thing and without FIR also many complaint were handled by police. This is proved unwillingness of police

10. Anglers issue, fishing restrictions, Indian fishermen invasions.
