The Medawachchiya Police are investigating an alleged attack on two Grade 11 students of the Maithripala Senanayake Vidyalaya, by the Vice Principal of the school last Friday (March 12).
The students are receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. Police said they had first received treatment at the government hospital at Medawachchiya before being moved to Anuradhapura.
The victims have been identified as Ranga Kumara and Viraj Sandakelum. According to police, two groups of Grade 11 students had clashed on the previous day, but they had settled the issue. The Vice Principal had summoned both groups the following day and punished Kumara and Sandakelum after making inquiries.
