Respondents given time to object Disappearance of JVPers in Jaffna April 27, 2012, 9:59 pm by Chitra Weerarathne The Court of Appeal yesterday allowed Jaffna Security Forces Commander, the Officer-in-Charge of the Achchuveli police station, the IGP and the Attorney General time till May 14, 2012, to file objections to the Habeas Corpus applications filed by the wife of Kugan and the father of Lalith Kumar, claiming that Kugan and Lalith, who were active members of the Jana Aragalaya Movement of the JVP, had disappeared in Jaffna, on Dec. 9, 2011. The petitioners had requested the Court of Appeal to direct the respondents to produce the missing persons before the Court. J. C. Weliamuna instructed by Nuwan Bopage, appeared for the petitioners. Deputy Solicitor General Shavindra Fernando appeared for the respondents and moved for time to file objections. The Bench comprised Justice Nalin Perera. www island.lk
