Rajapaksa government is caught in a trap – Bahu

New Left Front Leader Dr. Wickremabahu Karunaratne says the current administration is trapped by powerful nations and the country has therefore lost its independence.

He says that it is countries like the US, India and Israel that advised on the war that should be responsible for the alleged war crimes that had been committed in the country more than the Mahinda Rajapaksa administration.

He observes that the alleged war crimes had taken place since the country tried to fight the war according to advise received from these countries. Dr. Karunaratne points out that these countries were engaged in pushing nations towards a war and then make war crimes accusations against them in order to interfere in their internal matters and to take such countries under them.

He explained that the UN experts panel's report is being used to create a new imperialist force that would strangulate the country's leaders with war crimes allegations.

According to Dr. Karunaratne there is no need to continue with this inhumane war, but the aspirations of the Tamils should be addressed through a political settlement as pointed out by him on several occasions in the past. He noted that Mahinda Rajapaksa who supported the youth in the South when the rebelled did not do so when the Tamil youth did so in the North.
