Attempt to deny compensation to police victims at Karadiyanaru explosion
2010-10-06
The LankaNewsWeb reliably learns that attempts are made by the Chinese company involved in the Karadiyanaru explosion through the Sri Lanka government to put the blame on Sri Lanka police on the blast paving the way for them to reject any claims for compensation.
19 people including 10 police officers, 7 civilians and two Chinese nationals were killed in the blast and 44 people were injured.
The police station was reduced to rubble.
The two containers with very powerful C4 explosives that have been parked adjacent to Karadiyanaru police station belonged to the (Chineese Harbour Engineering Company) which building Hambantota harbour.
LNW exclusively revealed that the explosives were about to be transported to Pakistan through Oluwil port for the use of anti-Indian Lashkar e-Toiba terrorist group.
We also revealed that China, together with Pakistan, has been using Sri Lanka as a transit point for its underground military activities in support of anti-Indian terrorist groups.
Experts say that there is an inherent danger in allowing the Chinese to store explosives, without active control by the local government. They say that the explosives are being misused.
Sri Lankan government's official version was that the containers only included dynamite to be used for rock blasting and road construction
But experts question as to how such a powerful blast would occur simply with dynamite.
We now understand that the Rajapaksa regime is planning to put the blame of the blast on junior police officers on duty -many of those who were killed- through another Fonseka military court type “official inquiry” and allow Rajapaksa’s business partner Chinese company not to pay any compensation to the victims.
The CIA has warned the Sri Lankan government about the possibility of there being over 200 Lashkar –e –Toiba cadres in the country, apart from sleeper cells.
The possibility of other explosives used by the Chinese contractors falling into such Jihadi hands cannot be ruled out.
Security experts say that apart from being a security hazard for the South Asian region, this could shatter the hard won peace in the Island.
