Main SrilankanTamil Party TNA: Ready to support the Sinhala President .....!!!

TNA ready to support the President

The most prominent Tamil parliamentary group in Sri Lanka says the party is prepared to help President Mahinda Rajapaksa to resolve the national issue.

R Sambanthan, the leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), stressed the importance of resettling nearly 300,000 displaced people as soon as possible.

Visiting British parliamentarian Liam Fox and the TNA agreed on the importance of the issue, he told BBC Sandeshaya.

“There should be a solution based upon which all communities in Sri Lanka can live in harmony without dividing the country,” MR. Sampanthan said.

He added that the TNA, widely regarded as a pro-LTTE political party, expressed its willingness to help the president to find out such a political solution.

A senior leader of the conservative Party and a member of the British shadow cabinet has met the president and the TNA leader in Colombo.

“Noting that the president has changed and made some progress, Mr. Fox requested us to help him to progress more towards resolving the national question. We said that we are prepared,” Mr. Sambanthan said.

Liam Fox brokered a deal between Sri Lanka’s main political parties to share information on resolving the issue during Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga presidency.

Expressing regret that it did not work out, Mr. Fox has observed that things might have been completely different had the parties honoured the agreement.

He has, however, noted that the UK government is willing to help President Rajapaksa to resolve the national issue, according to the TNA leader. (BBC Sandeshaya)

GOOD, this is the best way to sort internal issues and help your community

I hope and pray president Rajapakse and all patriotic forces in the country will work to preserve the victory that our men in uniform gave their limbs and lives for.

This news item should be read with balance view, TNA is ready to help the President only to solve the IDP issue, this does not mean that TNA is all out to support the President.

What??????????????????

Dear Mr. Sampanthan , It's a good idea at least in this stage you better consider joining the government n do the best to the tamils , do you know after MR. GG. Pnanambalam from congress party, the MP's of the tamil area wasted their time till date even including KP and Pirabaharan, now the time has come please consider joining the government to acheive some solution to the tamils. Thanks to you.

Oh ! Mr. Sambandan, why didn't you say so earlier, I mean brfore the PC elections. Any way its not too late !

Posted By: NAIDE

But few months ago you did not want to talk to the persident when invited you for discussion on the same issue. Is UK the guiding star instead of Velu. Be careful Velu had a mission for Tamils while UK has a mission for money.

Posted By: paraya

Your problem is that you have your confidence tied up to Norway and UK to solve our internal issues. You kept boycotting the president's numerous calls, when the war was at its last stages. You thought that LTTE will never be beaten by our forces. Now Prabhakaran is gone and his LTTE is defeated ,which selected you to represent them, you are singing a different song. Forget the Eelam join the government the president to find a permanent solution for all outstanding issues. Let us all live as Sri Lankans and not divided on communal basis.

It augurs well for this beautiful little country. Mr. Sampanthan is matured enough to grasp the present and the future. Enough is enough for the suffering of the common man in the N & E. You've got to give it a try and trust MR, and supportingly force him to give a better life for the people there. And this Mr. Sampanthan can do and give leadership.

if you think that sl presidet will do it then its a good move but he is an sinhaleast and trying to deleat tamils from sri lanka good luck...

Posted By: nirmeli

Good move. and why not. There are well respected Tamils in the academia who would fuel hatred towards Sinhalese, and the same goes true with hard-line Sinhalese. One thing is sure for certain is that future generation would not carry this racist approach for sure. The world is becoming so globalized and hard core nationalists would be out of the loop. What is needed at this moment for educated Tamils to rally around with a respected and intelligent Tamil leader (It is of course not Mr.Sampathan) and find a solution for their grievances with the President. Intellectuals should find adjustable formula to work with President and get fair share of power at Northern part of the world. Do they want to spend their life in Western world or let their kids be a second class citizen?. Whoever says what there is still national level reconciliation in all communities in Sri lanka.

well this guy always said country should be divided & tamils want seperate state. now what? sign of tiger changing stripes to survive? he should be given same treatment as prabha!

Posted By: prasa

Well this certainly is a good inititive and the TNA should be lauded for taking this bold decision for the sake of the suffering displaced.. But the question lies as to whether the SL govt would honestly ear their grievances because both the LTTE and the Govt of SL have a nerve of backstabbing treaties and agreements.

TNA must understand that there is no other way. Majority of Lankans are backing President MR & Probably The Presidential & General elections will result in 2/3 for the GOVT.In this senario TNA has come out with the most logical statement after some time.

At last these idots are come to the correct path!!!

OHHO man how long it took u guys to understand that we all should live together in an undivided one country like brothers and sisters. It is good,we must get together, discuss our problems with our country people not with other countries because Srilanka is an independent country. reality is that So NOW IT IS THE TIME TO GET TOGETHER WITH ALL THE COMMUNITIES COME TO ONE TABLE DISCUSS AND SORT OUT OUR PROBLEMS AND THEN WE CAN LIVE HAPPILY LIKE ONE NATION. "THANK GOD"

Posted By: jaye

very good.Still you guys not late.We can build a better SL

Posted By: local boy

Dear Mr Sambadan, Disgrace you should be held responsible for death of every civilian in this country for being a puport for VP and KP being a senior citizen of this country you should have done this long time ago so that we could have avoided a blood shed and saved ppl like kadirgamar neelan

Posted By: surendran

Dear Mr. Sampanthan, at least now you opened your mouth to tell the reality that is the only potential path for the problem in our country, if Prabakaran is alive today, would you be able to open your mouth at least to tell us the word "United Sri Lanka".

Posted By: aleem

There should be an end for everything. This is good move as far as I concern. But SL govt should find a constructive solution.
