We Will Win Self-determination for Eelam Tamils

The Sri Lankan Sinhala Government has proclaimed victory after massacring the Liberation Tamils of
Tamil Eelam (LTTE) who have been fighting for the legitimate aspirations of the Tamil namely self rule.
The Sinhala Buddhist racist Government which conducted a genocidal war against the Tamils is now
celebrating its victory all over the country.
Instead of putting forward a viable political solution to the ethnic problem which will satisfy the Tamils,
the SL government suppressed the genuine aspirations of the Tamils by resorting to war.That is
A War without Witnesses The suppression took the form of mass murder, rape including forced abortions,
disappearances (white vans), bombing hospitals, schools – including orphanages, prevention of
food and medicines reaching the beleaguered innocent Tamils
While the international community kept silent the LTTE cadres who were inside the” safe zone” were
massacred, brutalized and maimed . All injured and those who surrendered are being held in “concentration
camps” and tortured. Tamils were forcefully removed from their traditional home lands and
government plans to sponsor Sinhala settlements and colonize lands of belonging to the Tamils. This
process has already begun in Trincomalee since independence; the Buddhist Sinhala chauvinists without
any compromise continue to deprive Tamil aspirations by using all political and military means.
Both major political parties showed no difference whatsoever as far as the Tamil cause conc erned is.
This suppression still continues. It appears that government solution for the Tamil cause, according to
recent incidents, is to wipe out Tamils all together.The genocidal decision has pushed all Tamils including
those who did not support separation, to seek separation as the only means of living alongside the
Singhalese
The past political history of Tamils is full of sad memories and traumatic experiences.We Tamils are at a
crucial juncture and we need to look back at these experiences, criticize constructively, learn from our
mistakes and move forward.This is the duty imposed on us at this moment intimae. It is a time to organize
and move forward and reach our ultimate goal of right of self determination of the Eelam Tamils (Sri
Lankan Tamils).
SL government may declare that the Tamil agitation is over and the gullible Sinhala people may believe
it too, but the struggle is not over and the support for our struggle is stronger than ever.
Our struggle for self-determination must take place at various levels. In order to succeed we need to
make a concerted effort and enlist support from various groups of people and organizations such as
the oppressed people all over the world who are in a similar situation, labor unions, human right
activists, and various ethnic groups, social and political organizations.We need support from a broader
spectrum of people, groups and organizations who understand our plight and accept our goal, our
aspirations and our legitimate rights.Mobilizing all these entities and moving forward is our responsibility.

In a freedom struggle the focus should be on political victory.We,Tamils all over the world have proved
in the recent past that we have the will and the determination to mobilize the Tamil Diaspora (Tamils
living outside SL) and made the world aware of our pathetic plight and exposed the brutal Sinhala
chauvinist government’s atrocities committed against innocent Tamils.We can justly take pride in this
monumental achievement.
Our existence as Tamils in Sri Lanka can only be established through our right to self determination
with the eventual establishment of a separate state. Tamil people must be liberated from the clutches
of Srl Lankan Sinhala-Buddhist chauvinism. It is only by our right to self determination that we can
enjoy the fruits of safety, dignity, respect, freedom and human rights
History has proved time and again that in fighting for self government we will encounter defeats and
successes and defeats should not deter us from achieving our final goal of Self Rule. It is important to
learn from our mistakes made politically and militarily as it will only help us to march forward. Our just
struggle must continue until the Sinhala Buddhist Racist Government is defeated and it the duty of
each and every one of you to expose the unimaginable atrocities committed by this pariah state and
get the International Community to realize our right to self determination.
It is about time for all our Tamil people to unite and it is only by uniting that we can achieve our goal
to win our right to self-determination. It is also only through democratic means at the international
level that we can succeed in liberating the Tamils from the Sinhala racist Government.
We mourn the deaths of innocent civilians and freedom fighters killed by the Sinhala Racist Regime!
