TNA MP for the Jaffna district Suresh Premachandran told Daily Mirror yesterday Mr. Kanagaratnam and some government officials who are at present in the area where fighting is still raging sends them updates from time to time. Asked what form of telecommunication is used by them for this purpose, Mr. Premachandran said that he was unaware of the details. “We do not know what type of phone he (Mr. Kanagaratnam) is using. But, he contacted us,” Mr. Premachandran said.
Responding to a query about the need for him to stay there further, he said, “Well, Mr. Kanagaratnam is an MP elected by those people. He is a man from Mullaitivu. He is trying to help those civilians as much as possible under these tragic circumstances.”
