Aged, handicapped IDPs will be allowed to live with relations
At a meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat, presided by Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa, it was decided to allow the old, handicapped and injured internally displaced people, living in welfare centres in Vavuniya, to join their kith and kin and live in their homes.
Relations of the disabled IDPs who wish to accommodate them in their homes should apply along with a letter from the Grama Sevaka or the Divisional Secretary confirming the relationship and their ability to look after the needs of the IDPs.
Those relations who wish to avail themselves of this opportunity should contact Secretary of the Social Welfare Ministry Mrs V. Jegarajasingham on telephone number 011-2883525 or Senior DIG Northern Province Nimal Lewke on telephone
number 024-2222227.
