Tamil Nadu CM convenes emergency meeting on Lanka
With Sri Lanka showing no sign of declaring a ceasefire, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has convened an emergency meeting of leaders of legislature Parties today to chalk out the next course of action.
Addressing a hurriedly convened press conference here, the Chief Minister said he has written to leaders of all legislature parties to attend the meeting to be held in his Chamber at 1000 hrs.
Mr. Karunanidhi said he and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder- leader S. Ramadoss discussed the issue and convened the meeting to once again approach the government to put an end to the sufferings of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
''There are disturbing reports everyday that Tamils in Lanka were losing their lives and properties and leading a pathetic life. They are scared of their life'', he said adding, the meeting has been convened to decide the next course of action and approach of the government.
Besides the leaders of legislature parties, Presidents, General Secretaries or State Secretaries of the parties could also attend the meeting, the Chief Minister said.
Though Mr. G. K. Mani is the leader of the Legislature party, Dr Ramadoss, as founder-leader of the party would take part in the meeting, Mr Karunanidhi said.
Similarly, MDMK legislature party leader M. Kannappan and party's General Secretary Vaiko could attend the meeting, he added.
